High School Locked Down In Central Jersey
South Brunswick High School had a "shelter-in-place" on Thursday, Dec. 22 after an unauthorized student from another school district entered the building, authorities said. Police said the unauthorized student was looking for a fight with a South Brunswick student at about 7:55 a.m. School administrations in conjunction with the School Resource Officer placed the school in shelter-in-place while they attempted to locate the trespasser, police said. Officials began screening students entering John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson following an incident late last week in which a trio of loaded guns were seized and the armed teens taken into custody. The chief of a Fairfield County police department is retiring from his position after almost 10 years to become a neighboring school district's first-ever director of security. A potential tragedy was avoided in Charles County when officers were able to intervene after there was a threat of mass violence uttered by a student at North Point High School. At 11:11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, a spokesperson for the Charles County Sheriff's Office said that a School Resource Officer was made aware that a student made a threat to commit mass violence in the building during an argument. A Jersey City school security guard had hot coffee thrown in his face by a woman being asked to leave the premises on Friday, Dec. 9, authorities said.
