An accused hit-and-run driver faced a judge after allegedly striking two brothers on a Long Island parkway, killing one, and fleeing the scene.
Jonathan Shaver, 51, of Rocky Point, was arraigned in Suffolk County Court Friday, Feb. 13, in connection with a Shirley collision on William Floyd Parkway that took the life of Edgar Mejia.
Shaver was driving a Honda Accord northbound when he struck the 31-year-old Mejia and his brother around 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, as the pair changed a tire on the shoulder, prosecutors said. He allegedly then fled without offering aid or calling 911.
