A Pennsylvania inmate walked away from his work release job, sparking an active search, officials announced on Friday, Sept. 25.
Ryan Varner, 42, was last seen at Valk Manufacturing Company at 66 East Main Street in New Kingstown, Cumberland County, around 3:05 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Varner is described as a bald white man with blue eyes and a large build. He is 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 300 pounds, the sheriff’s office said.

A young father found dead after a days-long search following a jet ski fall in Pennsylvania’s Susquehanna River has been identified, State Police confirmed in a release issued Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Alex Vogelsong, 21, of Mechanicsburg, was found in the river near 49 N. River Road in Goldsboro Borough, York County, on Monday, Sept. 21, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

A grandmother killed in a Route 30 crash in Pennsylvania has been identified, the authorities announced Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Estelle Ann Cook, 75, of Fayetteville, died in the crash on Wednesday, Sept. 16, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.
Cook was the wife of Charles L. Cook Sr., a mother, and a grandmother of three, as stated in her obituary published by Connelly Funeral Home of Essex.
The coroner’s office was dispatched at 9:45 p.m. for a reported fatal crash at Rambler Road and Lincoln Highway West in Jackson Township, York County, according to the release.
